@skematica Okay, there's a bit to unbundle in my thoughts on this, so it'll take a bit to tease it out. I think you are compacting two separate (albeit related) issues into one here - the ownership of twitter and the tools to prevent harassment &c.
There's also a fundamental misunderstanding of who the users of twitter are.

Firstly, the users of twitter, like facebook, are the parties who advertise and promote their sites/stories to the audiences. Twitter isn't in the same position as Facebook, in that the users aren't also in the business of selling/promoting fake news. There's a reason that Thiel/Cambridge Analytica ran their Brexit/Trump/lePen fake news campaigns on Facebook and not Twitter.

Look at the whole Gamergate controversy; a Twitter run by the mob wouldn't be much of an improvement.

@matigo that's as may be, but this attack wasn't created by Japan or Albania. This is using US exploits, they're responsible, no one else.
They created them, they failed to secure them, they allegedly intended for it to 'only' be used on internal networks but took no steps to prevent it being used on wider internet. They are 100% responsible and need to be punished

@matigo those other countries need to sue the USA into the ground. This is a vuln designed, Developed and perfected by America. America needs to pay.

@JeremyCherfas oh yes, and loved it. Not so much the last season, which I felt was very weak, but I'm a sucker for any show featuring strong competent female leads.

Can't remember who here told me to watch it, but by the old gods and the new, I'm enjoying the heck out of The Good Fight.
