@skematica Okay, there's a bit to unbundle in my thoughts on this, so it'll take a bit to tease it out. I think you are compacting two separate (albeit related) issues into one here - the ownership of twitter and the tools to prevent harassment &c.
There's also a fundamental misunderstanding of who the users of twitter are.
Firstly, the users of twitter, like facebook, are the parties who advertise and promote their sites/stories to the audiences. Twitter isn't in the same position as Facebook, in that the users aren't also in the business of selling/promoting fake news. There's a reason that Thiel/Cambridge Analytica ran their Brexit/Trump/lePen fake news campaigns on Facebook and not Twitter.
